Eightydays.me for iPhone and iPad

One of the things that gets me excited is a really good app in the transportation & travel space. This is why I really like apps like GeoBus and Transit. I’ve always enjoyed great design and app development, so when those two things meet transportation & travel, I get giddy. I originally came across Eightydays.me when they launched the 1.0 web app on Product Hunt. I thought it was a brilliant idea (cheap plane and train routing for visiting major European cities) and loved the visual aesthetic. Recently, they launched an iPhone and iPad app to help their travellers build trips even easier.

What is Eightydays.me? 🎈

Eightydays.me is a website that allows you to create multi-city trips around Europe. You pick a starting city, date range and it will go out and find the cheapest plane, train and ferry tickets to get you to some of Europe’s most visited destinations.

Been to one of the cities before? Want to swap it out with another? You can easily swap out one of the destinations for another and see your options and price differences. You also have the option of adjusting the length of stay in each of the cities if you want a little bit more or less time in one destination.

iPhone and iPad 📱

For years, Eightydays.me was only available in the browser. Their website was mobile friendly, but recently they launched a new native iOS app. The iOS app brings the same great design from the web app natively to your Apple device. Check out some of the screenshots below.

United States 🇺🇸

In addition to an iOS app, Eightydays.me has also added the option to build an itinerary travelling around the United States. The North American itineraries are usually more expensive than their European counterparts as there is no cheap Ryan Air or rail travel in the United States. The addition of North American cities to their platform enables starting locations for European trips to start in the US or Canada. Before, Americans and Canadians would have to get over to Europe and back on their own on either side of your Eightydays.me itinerary.

Travel Soon ? 🛫

It’s still too early to tell what the implications of COVID-19 will have on international travel, especially in the USA. Hopefully once countries start opening up their boarders again, you’ll find Eightydays.me helpful.
